METHOD 1: POWER BLEACHING WITH FLÄSH

This in-office treatment, also known as chairside or power bleaching, uses the German-made FLÄSH product and is carried out right here at our practice in Berlin Charlottenburg. The session takes about an hour – time flies by!

Here’s how it works: the gums are first protected, then a special bleaching gel is applied to the teeth. The active ingredient is activated by a special lamp. This generates nascent oxygen that penetrates the enamel and bleaches the stained substances within, without damaging the tooth structure. Studies show that the lamp boosts the gel’s effectiveness by at least 26%, resulting in a shade improvement of up to eight levels. Power bleaching at the dentist can be repeated after one year at the earliest.

Neither enamel nor gum tissue is damaged by the bleaching gel. Some patients may experience temporary sensitivity, which usually fades within a few days. Stains can usually be removed during a professional cleaning. Discoloration, however, stems from deep pigment deposits in the tooth structure and can’t be removed by surface cleaning or over-the-counter products.

The pigments from these substances settle into the enamel. Certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride during tooth development can also cause discoloration.
