Pain-free laser dental treatment for healthy gums – KU64 Berlin Your dentist for laser treatment of periodontitis
Thanks to modern laser therapy, dental treatments today can be performed with little to no pain. This method has proven especially effective in the treatment of periodontitis: The dental hygienists at KU64 Berlin use ultra-fine dental lasers for particularly precise and gentle procedures. Unpleasant drilling noises and vibrations are a thing of the past. As a patient, you benefit from reduced bleeding and swelling, as well as faster wound healing.
Laser Instead of Scraping: Healthier Gums Through the Power of Light
Lasers are increasingly being used in modern dentistry and have, in many cases, partially or even fully replaced scalpels and drills. Simply put, laser beams are highly concentrated, high-energy light. During treatment, these ultra-short pulses of light target the tissue and are converted into heat. Depending on the intensity and speed of the light pulses, different effects can be achieved.
The advantages: Laser beams can reach areas in the mouth that are difficult or even impossible for a dental hygienist to access with conventional instruments. In addition, lasers allow for highly precise treatment – diseased tissue can be targeted without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue.
Laser treatment can also help reduce bacteria and germs in the oral cavity, and cauterize blood vessels. Depending on the laser type, the treated area may also be cooled during the procedure. Swelling and bleeding are usually significantly reduced after laser treatment.
In the past, we also used lasers for cavity treatment and surgical procedures. However, over time, other techniques have proven to be more effective and gentler. That’s why KU64 now consciously relies on more modern and well-established methods instead of lasers in those specific areas.
Laser Treatment Areas
Laser technology has become an indispensable part of many areas of dentistry. At KU64 Berlin, lasers are used in the following treatments:

Revolutionary Intensive Dental Cleaning “Prophylaxis PLUS Laser” at KU64 BERLIN-MITTE: The Future of Oral Care
Experience the next generation of intensive dental cleaning at KU64 BERLIN-MITTE! Our innovative method combines in-depth theoretical training with practical expertise – professionally carried out by our dental hygienists and laser specialists Adina Mauder and Aisegkioul Netzip Oglou-Housein at our Ku’damm location, and by our experienced prophylaxis assistant Nurcan Sahin at the KU64 practice in Berlin-Mitte.
At the core of this approach is an advanced laser treatment that specifically reduces bacterial load in the mouth – without the side effects of conventional antibiotics. Whether laser treatment is recommended is determined individually using the MMP8 test. This test measures specific enzymes that indicate inflammatory processes and may compromise the natural barrier function of your oral mucosa.
Treatment begins with a standard professional dental cleaning (PDC), including pocket depth measurements. If probing depths of 3–4 mm with bleeding are detected along with an elevated MMP8 value, we recommend our “Prophylaxis PLUS Laser” treatment as a targeted supportive measure.
This innovative therapy includes:
effective elimination of inflammation-causing bacteria with a gentle laser beam,
sustainable strengthening of the oral microbiome using probiotic lozenges,
targeted restoration of beneficial bacteria.
In addition, laser therapy is also successfully used in the treatment of peri-implantitis.
Peri-implantitis is a serious inflammation around a dental implant – similar to periodontitis, but often even more persistent. At KU64, we address this challenge using cutting-edge laser technology.
What makes laser therapy so special?
Instead of conventional surgical methods, we use a precise, state-of-the-art laser. It penetrates the inflamed tissue, reduces bacterial load, and simultaneously promotes healing – without scalpels and with minimal discomfort. The laser works like a “modern antibiotic without side effects.”

Costs for Laser Dental Treatment at KU64 Berlin
The cost of laser treatment varies depending on the type of procedure. The number of teeth being treated is a key factor. The dental hygienists at KU64 will be happy to explain each step in detail and provide you with a personalized cost estimate tailored to your treatment plan.
Laser treatments are not part of standard statutory health insurance benefits and are therefore not reimbursed by public health insurance providers. As a patient, you are responsible for covering the cost of your laser treatment yourself. In acute cases, pregnant and breastfeeding women may be eligible for reimbursement of laser treatment costs under certain conditions.
The procedure is painless, effective, and can be repeated if necessary. When combined with professional dental cleaning, it typically takes around 2 hours, and the cost ranges between €700 and €800.

In our daily practice, we see that many patients are reluctant to visit the dentist due to a fear of pain. Sounds, vibrations, and smells during treatment often intensify dental anxiety.
The use of laser technology can help patients overcome this fear. The new experience of a pain-free treatment without unpleasant noises or pressure sensations can break existing fear patterns and take away the basis of dental anxiety.
With laser technology, we offer our patients a gentle and highly effective periodontal treatment with the best possible outcomes.
In medicine, a distinction is made between hard lasers, soft lasers, and MID lasers. Hard lasers have a high power output and are primarily used for cutting and removing tissue. They are applied in root canal treatments as well as in the therapy of periodontitis.
Soft lasers, on the other hand, operate at lower power levels and do not generate heat during treatment. Because of their low intensity, they are used to activate tissue. This stimulation helps reduce pain and inflammation during treatment and promotes blood circulation.
MID lasers operate at a medium power level but achieve similar effects to those of soft lasers.
At the KU64 dental practice in Berlin, we use the A.R.C. Laser for our treatments. This is a diode laser (soft laser) that has been available on the German market since 1981.
