FISSURE SEALING AT CHILDREN – THE INVESTMENT IN HEALTHY CHILDREN’S TEETH!

There is a sensible and effective precaution in the fight against tooth decay – especially in children and adolescents, but also for adults. Fissures are small crevices, furrows, dimples or incisions in the chewing surfaces of the cheek teeth. In these grooves, which are up to 1 mm deep and 0.05 mm narrow, food residues and bacteria are preferably collected, which are difficult to remove, even with excellent oral hygiene. Especially in the posterior area of the mouth, adequate cleaning of the teeth is almost impossible and the risk of tooth decay is above average. In order to avoid irreversible damage to the permanent teeth caused by tooth decay, we recommend that you and your family take a simple but sensible precaution, namely the fissure sealing for children.

Children’s teeth that have been sealed are much less likely to develop tooth decay and are also much better cleaned. Even in childhood, shortly after the breakthrough of permanent cheek teeth and in healthy, caries-free teeth of adults, this precaution is a worthwhile investment in their health.

Under certain conditions, the sealing of fissures is a benefit that is also supported by the statutory health insurance funds. We, the dental specialists at KU64, advise and accompany you competently: From the selection of the optimal dental measure for the protection of your teeth (or the teeth of your children) to the professional implementation and responsible aftercare, we are at your side.

TECHNICAL AND MATERIALS AT The FISSURE SEAL FOR CHILDREN

The workflows and materials used in the fissure sealing of permanent teeth are considered to be mature and very reliable. In this context, the KU64 team of specialists uses the latest developments and research results in dentistry. Today, the filling material is mostly made of a high-quality, thin-liquid plastic, which is hardened with light and supplies fluoride to the tooth in order to strengthen it. Only sporadically a special cement from dentistry is used in the sealing of fissures, which has good properties in the release of fluoride, but is less long-lasting.

For the application of the sealing material, a thoroughly cleaned and dry tooth is generally necessary. For optimum adhesion of the seal, the dental fissures are conditioned with a special acid, cleaned and dried again and then precisely filled. The curing of the filling is carried out with a UV-like light adapted to the respective plastic, which is directed selectively to the treated tooth. The entire treatment, which is completely painless, takes 15 – 30 minutes. From this point on, the problematic dimples in the chewing surfaces are filled. This will make the chewing surface and tooth smoother, more resistant and easier to clean with the toothbrush.

30 MINUTES FISSURE FOR YEARS WITHOUT ZAHNSCHMERZEN

The fissure sealing for children, which reduces the risk of tooth decay many times over, especially for cheek teeth, is one of the services that do not require invasive treatment steps and are completely painless.

The tooth substance is not damaged during a fissure sealing. In order to relieve your child of the fear of a meaningful sealing of the fissures and to make it easier for them to go to the dentist in the future, the KU64 team focuses on child-friendliness in all areas. The waiting room is already like a children’s room.

Here the joy of trying out instead of the usual boredom spreads and provides distraction and relaxation. The use of nitrous oxide offered by us for a fear-free treatment under partial anaesthetic creates a feeling of lightness and security in restless and nervous patients, guarantees a big smile on the face and thus removes the fear of the next visit to the pediatric dentist. This is of great importance following the fissure sealing. The sealed fissures last about 7-10 years and must be continuously checked for their integrity. Repairing a damaged filling is easy and, like the entire treatment, side effect-free. However, good dental care contributes significantly to the durability of a fissure sealing!
