Federal Dental Association and Association of Medical Professionals thank practice teams

Berlin, 14 May 2020 – The German Dental Association (BZÄK) and the Association of Medical Professionals inform patients that dental practices are once again offering prophylaxis and dental treatments in full. The high hygiene and infection protection standards already in force for the practices prior to the Corona pandemic have been further strengthened, ensuring the safety and effective protection of patients and staff. According to current findings, treatments in dental practices worldwide did not contribute to increased Covid-19 infections in either the dental treatment team or patients.

Henner Bunke, D.M.D./Univ. of Florida, BZÄK Board Officer for Dental Medicine

Specialist employee (ZFA) and President of the Lower Saxony Dental Association: “The visit to the dentist is safe for patients. I therefore recommend not to postpone treatments and especially the important prophylaxis appointments. Good oral health requires regular monitoring and examination in practice. Thanks to the well-established teamwork of dentists and dental specialists, the high German hygiene standards are guaranteed. The daily commitment and the great sense of responsibility and loyalty of the ZFA even in Corona times cannot be overstated. They contribute an important part to the excellent work in the dental practices.”

“The situation in the field of protective equipment has improved significantly,” confirms Sylvia Gabel, Head of Unit ZFA in the Association of Medical Professionals e.V.

“In addition, the practice teams have reviewed and supplemented their hygiene management so that patients and dental specialists can feel safe while complying with the necessary occupational safety measures.” BZÄK and the Association of Medical Professionals e.V. would like to thank the practice teams for their great work in times of crisis. The partners are committed to health protection and team performance. They are always there – even outside the pandemic – with commitment and empathy for their patients, have their own uncertainties put behind them and ensure smooth processes in the dental practices in Germany.
